    Hello,

I'm a video newb who is researching various video platform options for a friend of mine who is wanting to post a lot of 'field report' videos for his charitable organization. He does not want the videos posted as just another channel on YouTube or similar community video sites.

I've already investigated some of the more obvious options, such as Vimeo, Viddler, Vzaar, etc.

My question relates to Amazon S3. I've explored their website and I don't see a lot of information regarding posting web videos, etc on their server. Does anyone here have any first-hand knowledge/experience with Amazon S3 as far as posting/hosting web videos, video playlists, etc?

Any constructive thoughts, suggestions are very much appreciated!

    Thanks

  2. You only get 5 gig free with Amazon S3 standard storage and bandwidth is capped. Does your friend want to pay for more? Does your friend want to limit the viewers to his charitable organization? Another idea is to buy a cheap website and load the videos onto Vimeo and embed the links on the website. Give the website link to those that will be viewing the video(s). Then they can pick and choose which ones they want to watch and you don't have to pay for any bandwidth.

Thanks for the response! He will not want to limit the number of viewers; anyone would be able to watch the videos. He doesn't mind paying for more, but of course his budget is somewhat limited to perhaps several hundred USD per month I'm guessing.

  4. You mentioned vimeo earlier, did you investigate vimeo pro? Seems like a good match.
