Just tried to backup my blu ray with BD Rebuilder but received the following error ..
    [13:30:26] PHASE ONE, Encoding
    - [13:30:26] Processing: VID_00254 (1 of 55)
    - [13:30:26] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00254]
    - Error in attempt to extract audio/subs.
    - Bitstream exception Unknown exception. It does not have to be! Plase contact the application support team for more information.
[13:30:29] - Failed to retrieve audio, aborted

One question to ask is when selecting ' source patch ' do you simply select the BD drive E or do you have to select a specific folder / file within the drive ?
    Thanks in advance

This is an obvious question, but needs to be addressed. You do know that BD Rebuilder will not work with encrypted blu ray sources don't you?

What are you using for decryption?

I have downloaded and installed FAB for decryption.
Fab opened the blu ray and asked me to specify the region , i thought that was job done and fab would just work in the background??

    DVDfab passkey?

I'm pretty sure you must rip and copy the blu-ray to your hdd first.

DVDFab Passkey for blu ray will work in the background, but as Baldrick pointed out, if you are using the regular DVDFAB Blu ray Copy, or DVDFab HD Decrypter, you will need to rip to the hard drive first, before using BD Rebuilder.

I use AnyDVD HD, and even though it will work in the background, I always rip to the hard drive before trying to re-encode blu ray video.

Could not use ANY DVD HD . Got the following message ....

Sorry, but trial versions are not allowed to use the update server!

The AnyDVDHD trial is intended for functionality testing only and,
for business reasons, updates for processing some new discs are not available.
    ERROR processing Blu-ray disc!

That is self-explanatory. You're trying to rip a very new release with the trial, and the trial doesn't work with it. You'll need to buy AnyDVD HD in order for it to work with this particular disc, or wait until it is one of the included titles that the trial does decrypt. (of course, by that time your trial would have expired)

DVDFab HD Decrypter is much the same way, in that it will not work with new releases quite often, as it lags behind the commercial version.
Have you tried the DVDFab Blu ray Copy module? Or DVDFab Passkey for blu ray?

You can also try MakeMKV, which will decrypt some blu ray, but I don't know how often it is updated. To rip the entire disc to the hard drive with MakeMKV, use the Backup mode.

Are you using DVDFab Blu ray Copy? If you are using the DVDFab Blu ray Ripper section, you are ripping and compressing the video, which takes a great deal more time. Normally ripping the video will take less than an hour, and usually much less, but depends on the read speed of your drive.

Virtually no one recommends compressing with DVDFab by the way. It works, but is generally inferior to the results you can get with the x264 encoder in BD Rebuilder.

And if you are using an older Intel Core 2 Duo processor, compressing blu ray video will take a long time. The more processing power you can throw at this task, and the more cores, the better off you will be.

Yes i am using DVDFab to copy , i selected the ' COPY ' tab and chose to copy to a BD 25 Rather than a BD 50 however it is still only 25% complete so i am thinking of cancelling and starting again !??

  12. Then you are re-encoding it, set it to BD 50.

Steve(MS) is correct. If you set it for 25gb, and the original is larger than that, you are compressing the movie rather than doing a straight rip.

I only have 2:40 mins remaining so i am reluctant to start again now lol.
How much quicker will it be to copy to BD 50 with fab ?

Since you've done this much with Fab, you might as well let it finish and see if you like the results. Compression with Fab will tend to be quicker than with BD Rebuider, since their h264 encoder is set up for speed rather than quality. But you can always change settings within BD Rebuilder and use a quicker than default mode.

As I said earlier, doing just a straight rip with no compression shouldn't take more than an hour, and will usually be considerably faster than that. Depends on the size of the original, and whether or not you are only ripping the main movie (which is possible in Fab) or if you are doing the whole thing. And drive read speed enters into that too, as some drives are riplocked and don't read quickly.

Thanks for info, now at 70% complete with 1hr 30 remaining , I'm ripping the whole movie to BD 25 because i want to try burning it to a 25 GB blank blu ray disc .
I'm sure if i have problems with burning i will start another thread , but for now thanks and goodbye.
