    Hi,

I bought a new DVB last week and connected it with the TV. I recorded a video with the help of USB, which is connected to the DVB. After completing the record, when i plug the USB to the computer, recorded videos were in the .$ts format with some supporting files of various other formats starting with $ sign. I could not play those in my computer. How can i convert those files playable in computer.

    Sorry for my bad english.

Try changing the extension from .$ts to .ts.

Also, post a MediaInfo report about the pesky files.

Probably some form of .ts file with missing PID info.

You can try the file on ts-doctor. Not much else will do.

This is the video file with supporting files. I couldn't find the mediainfo for those files. Even i tried renaming the biggest file, but same result In the Dvb there was no clear information about the hardware. Manufacturer just mentioned DVB designed based on novabase technology and model number is DTC- 2021. I think its a Chinese make. I'm not sure please help me guys

Yes. recordings can be played via DVB on the TV itself. But not in a computer.

You are exactly right DB83. Here a screenshot. First of all I renamed the file extension from .$ts to .ts and opened the renamed file via TS doctor and the result is this screenshot. What is he next step I have to proceed?

  11. Have you 'child-locked' any channels? If so then anything you record from them may be encrypted.
Does the manual/device (link below) look familiar to you?

This is exactly my DVB. I retrieved my DVB's manual and checked the specs, which is exactly the same to the above one

  14. The manual (page 10) says that if you have a 'transport stream defect' you should do a hard reset (power down, unplug and leave for a while). Try that. If it's not a corrupt file, or an encrypted one, then I am at a loss. I have tried analyzing your sample and playing/editing in various programs and it is simply not recognized. Maybe a software update would solve the problem. Sorry I can't be of more help.

  15. I haven't read the manual.

Does it specify files recorded on a "USB" (as you put it) can be played on the computer?

  16. It says PVR functionality (USB) is enabled via software update.
The problem is, if it's a 'clone', it may be bricked if he tries that but it seems to be the only option available to the OP.

I see - record, rewind and pause live TV.

I think he'll be out of luck playing these on a computer. They probably are encrypted as mentioned earlier.

  18. I think so too. He can backup the files on the computer, but have to transfer them back to DVB for playback.

Unfortunately my ts-doctor trial has expired - I have no use for the full version. You may try the other scanning modes and the help files.

All I know is that this program did solve a simlar problem some time ago which is when I advised that OP to try ts-doctor.

i'm confused. i thought a dvb is a pc i/o card. never heard of a stand alone unit. what is the dvb device name ?

post make and model and software it comes with. maybe it has been posted--on another forum and a google search might turn up an answer.

Work is being done on decryption but its early days.

Pass the outputs to another recording device ... test whether any form of encryption is passed over rca outputs.

Embedded Conditional Access System (CAS) Nagravision ... recordings paired to pvr (nothing else will play them)
