Video Conversion Software with multiple presets in a single batch list ?

Hi everyone.

After weeks roaming on Videohelp, looking for this kind of software, I'm finally deciding to open a thread, as I didnt have any luck.

Here's the feature i'm looking for :
- In a video encoding soft, I'm usually able to save multiple presets with different codecs/containers, or various encoding tweaks.
But once I have the presets I commonly use, i'd like to be able to encode a list of all my files, with different preset settings, as they don't always have the same output properties...

This feature is available in non-free soft like Adobe Media Encoder (great tool btw),... and also in the (in?)famous MediaCoder.
BUT
MediaCoder, as many of its users will know, has the terrible cripple of poping up a windows within xx files/minutes of encoding, waiting for human intervention to continue its process.

So here I am, asking you if you know some free software with this particular feature, which would help me so much in daytoday basis.

I tried so many : Umile encoder, Tencoder, Kirara, AnotherGui, FFCoder, XMediaRecode, Xvid4psp , and much more...
No Luck !

Ofc the software should have advanced encoding parameters available...
I know i'm asking for much here, but maybe you guys know of a tool I didnt have the chance to stumble on.

Forgot to mention Video to Video encoder, which seems to be able to give differents preset to everyfile in the list.
But goddam it, it doesnt find all my codecs / doesnt have that much of the codec configuration i need.
Darn, i had so much hope in that one.

AFAIK, there are no freeware/shareware softwares that do this (except for the aforementioned), but there are a number of paywares that do:

1. Canopus/GV Procoder
2. Sorenson Squeeze
3. (old) autodesk/discreet Cleaner
4. Rhozet/harmonic Promedia Suites (incl. Carbon)
probably more...

You can't have your cake and eat it too. Once you get to that level of complexity with batch encoding, you should be paying for it!

You should be able to create a Preset for AnotherGUI with multiple output files.

I'm suprised that you tried XMedia Recode, and are still looking for something. XMR seems to have everything you need. Lot's of profiles, batch encoding, plenty of parameters to play with, and you can even batch encode multiple files into multiple formats in one go.

But you can't change preset for each file in the batch list in xmedia recode. If you click on one and adjust it changes for everyone.

Hey everyone.

So, i jumped deeper into XMedia Recode, and indeed, it DOES have the feature i was looking for.

It's just not the same approach than any other encoders i tried before.

Let me explain @Baldrick and maybe others interested :
1- First, u load ALL the files you want to encode.
2- THEN, u create a preset / configuration fort some (or all) the files. and click "add a task"
3- if you want another preset for some (or all) the files, select them, then change the parameters/load the preset, and the click "add a task"
4- Repeat steps 2-3/ for each preset you want.
5 - Encode.

This does the trick. BUT, once a task is added, u can't change any of its parameters, (shame...). If you want to do so, u just have to delete the task and create a new one.

So u have to get used to the process/workflow (which is not the one I'm familiar with) , and is different from most video encoders.

So ty Nachos, I may give a try to this one, see if it does get useful..
But I'll keep looking for the perfect one


Btw, ty Priit for AnotherGui, which i find very useful for any "tricky" command line encoding i sometimes have to look into for very specifics video parameters.

Yep, pure logic would put the "Jobs" list tab between the "remove task" and the "encode!" one, on the top...
...instead of displaying it below, next to all the "parameters" tab...

Maybe i'll send the author a PM, but it looks like it is not a minor coding trick here, but the entire GUI design... so can't hope for a change any soon, i guess...

and haha. i knew there would be something...
I can't find any "Audio delay" option, in this program.
I did try checking/unchecking the Audio/Video Synch box.... but it didnt do anything
(I was expecting a box this milliseconds value to appear...)

So a little cry for help here (maybe Nachos ?)... if anyone knows how i can enable/perform this basic operation in XMR...

example usage to encode two videos from one source:

-i "d:\suite.life.avi" -vcodec copy -an -y "d:\video1.avi" -f flv -an -b 9216k -y "d:\video2.flv"

Ok guys.

Seems that Video to Video Converter is a good one too.

Each time you drag&drop a video (or multiple ones) into the window, you can apply a different preset, and it adds the video to the list.
So you can have a pretty long list of video files, with plenty of different encoding configurations.
You can even change the presets once the video is added to the list (thats a big + for me, compared to XMR )

The software got lots of nice options, although you sometimes have to know where to find them... and seems to get better and better at each update.

The only things it lacks are maybe :
- the possibility to apply presets/change parameters of files already in the program, multiple at once.
- more fine tuning in some codecs configuration -i'm thinking x264/avc/dnxhd...- (although it does have a line for "extra parameters" for command line args in the Advanced Menu...)
- Prores encoding :'( - It IS possible now on windows systems darnit :'(

Maybe i'll try to contact the author(s) to post a couple a suggestions.
But this one looks promising...

Hey all.

Video to Video Converter has now the Prores codec preset.

Hurray!

It also (finally!) has a "target size" option, and more advanced x264 settings....which could be useful.

Thought i'd bump this thread to inform you guys, because since i opened it 3 months ago, i did stick with VTVC, and it is quite a good program, and it's worth trying.

The latest version of winff allows individualized settings. It's not as clear as one would like which presets and customizations are applied to which files, but it works perfectly and is quite powerful.
