rar files problem

i am an movie freak, i like to download hollywood movies in blueray due to which i have an very large collection of movies. the problem is, let me explain you with an ss

for ex i downloaded the movie skyfall of size 48gb in 23 links each of 1.98gb










i succesfully extracted the movie, watched and deleted it as i keep the extraction part as an backup in my segatte 1tb hdd, the problem is one of me friend few days before told me that thease rar files whch you download from the internet get corrupted in some time may be an month or in few years, he told me better to create an single extraction through winrar of 48 gb and that would be much much better and would never get corrupted as it contains verification record and as are built under best comprssion, so you guys please suggest me what do as i have an 3tb data of blueray movies which i have downloaded, i dont want to lose that so please help
