  1. Object/goal: I have been using an Aqua view underwater video camera on the lake, (12 volt source). I would like to take the video out from my Aqua view, which has a plug for video out, an record it on one of these 2 camera's, Zero background here, (the aqua view video is real time, no way to save it or capture it at the camera
So can I take this output and save it to the video camera cited below?

THE VIDEO I have is a Digital 8 handycam Sony: I have on the side of the Digital 8 a inspection dust cover rubber covering 3 plugs, (similar to what u would see to plug into charge your cell phone) one with a diagram of a small pitchfork, one with the wording beside it, says DV in/out, the other is a blue plastic hole (lanc). Please excuse my ignorance ...

Id very much like to record what the visual image is come off the aqua view camera, keeping in mind IM in a boat with 12 volt power only.

I also have a kodak sportsman video camera about the size of a cell phone, I dont think it has any ability to recover an input signal

if im on the wrong site or better served else where any heads up thanks,

  2. The pitchfork is the symbol for a USB port, the DV port is also know as firewire port and the blue hole is most likely the analog input. You should have a cable with yellow, red and white RCA plugs at one end and a 3.5mm (1/8") headphone type plug at the other (it should have 4 segments). Connect the Aqua View to the yellow RCA and use the Handycam as a VCR.

  3. Hold it, the LANC port is a remote control port. There should be another dust cover with a port marked A/V or Line In, that's the one you should use. You should go to the Sony site and download the user manual for your Handycam.

No you use the HandyCam as a vcr to record incoming video. Please post the model number so we can determine if your camera has a video input. Connect the output of your Aqua Camera to the input of your HandyCam.

No you aren't. A Sony Digital8 camcorder can usually accept an analogue video signal from an external source as well as from the lens. There should be a 3.5mm jack socket on it which you use with the proper Sony cable. Find out what model it is and you should be able to download the manual.

Totally depends upon the model. Some have inputs + passthrough, some have inputs but no passthrough, some only have outputs. Need Model #.

The manual is here http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRTRV730.pdf and page 74 tells you how to do what you want. That will record your footage onto the tape. To get it off the tape onto your computer see page 60, use the i-Link cable (Firewire) but use a computer rather than a VCR.

I don't know what you mean when you state
back just as if the camcorder had filmed a scene its self
. Do you mean the quality of the video or the time and date display that the camcorder generates?

  13. excuse my question, Once the Aqua camera sends the signal (video) to the camcorder, and it has been hooked up properly, its viewable correct in playback mode,
