jc8952 - I cannot access your google drive, it's asking me to signin

Seems like the short clip is too short for anything to show up

    OK I'll take a look
I also found the game here
    https://nfl-video.com/colorado-vs-nebraska-football-sep-7-2024-full-game-replay

These files are smaller and have a better picture than your source

Good find! Doesn't look like I can download it though.

my video is full HD but of course it loses the HD quality when converted to DVD file structure.

I use the Android app Web Video Caster on my phone,
can cast the stream to the tv, there is also basic download but it doesn't always work

  6. I have the whole file downloaded & I will begin to work with it.
The first thing I did was open the file in AVStoDVD,
I know jc8952 posted he was using Windows 10 but I do not remember if it was 64 or 32 bit.
I will be using Windows 7 32-bit.I'm using the latest version.
At the start I got this Message for the .mp4:
    Image
[Attachment 82192 - Click to enlarge]

    This changed my first step.
I did the simple conversion I posted in #298 with ffmpeg.
The .mkv did not get the error message.
I hope the fix is this simple but probably won't be.

cholla, I'm using Windows 11 64 bit. As for that warning I always get that for all of these recordings, not just this one. I just click OK and it usually works out. I don't usually have a problem like this one.

I'm not sure what you mean about doing a conversion with ffmpeg. I tried using ffmpeg in the AVStoDVD for the audio and video preferences.

Selecting "OK" keeps the 59.94fps.I doubt it makes much difference.

I mean using the commandline ffmpeg. It is a standalone program.

For someone else . Using ffmpeg on this .mp4 I saw something I have not seen before h264(Constrained Baseline).
    Any ideas on that ?

    Try this:
Make sure that LAV filters is enabled for video (H264/AVC) and audio (aac)
    in codecs/preferred directshow codecs setup.
Modify the Preferences on the Avisynth tab so that
video and audio source filters are set to A2dsource.
Load the source file and when you get the box that cholla mentions above choose "cancel" for 60 fps

OK sounds good. I see from your previous log you already have LAV filters set
so don't don't have to worry about that bit

No, it is still the same. The audio is in sync in the beginning but by the half it is ahead of the video. Same as before. I'm going to try and rerecord the original video.

Thanks to both of you for your help.

@daveexnet, Just to clarify .By "encoded" is that with AVStoDVD or some other software?

I tried AVStoDVD twice with some different settings.
Both times the audio was ahead of the video at the end.
I believe there is something corrupt about this file.
That doesn't mean it can't be fixed.
Right now I have ffmpeg doing an encode to a new .mp4 but it is going very slow.
When it finishes I will see what AVStoDVD can do with it.

If that works I'm recommending a ffmpeg GUI named Clever by forum member Prowo.
It should do about the same thing that I'm doing with ffmpeg from command line.
It will just be easier than learning how to do it from command line.
Then you can try that .mkv with AVStoDVD.

I will post if this works or not.

Hi cholla that's interesting. It's possible you may have a solution, the only issue is that the source is pretty poor quality to begin with
and now it's another generational loss before creating the DVD

I'm off work on Fridays so I still have the original video on my DVR so I'm going to re-record it to a new mp4 video. I'm using a cloneralliance evolve HD video capture device to record from TV. I then use their provided software to trim out the commercials and breaks. Below is a link to this device.

I rerecorded the video from my DVR and then converted to DVD using AVStoDVD and it still has the same problem. When I play the recorded mp4 video the audio is in sync. This is getting very frustrating.

HI - I spoke to Cholla earlier and I mentioned I had never seen this before. FFmpegsource with fpsden and fpsnum to force it to CBR
    always takes care of this.
A simple script outside of A2d using directshowsource also plays OK in the media player; when you jump to the end the sync is good
where they're talking @ 2 hours and 34 minutes. Whether it would be the same if you actually played it all the way through to that point,
    I don't know.
BUt using directshowsource in A2d also create an out of sync DVD.
I'm still thinking about it, but as I said, this one is strange.

Why don't you get the first and second half from that site I mentioned, very easy to download.

  24. I have a re-encode going in ffmpeg but it is going very slow.
I believe the slowest I have ever had a re-encode go.
It should be done by tomorrow.
If this re-encode doesn't work I plan to try one with Clever.

That's good. Your original file has errors for sure, but very hard to pin it down,
due to the nature of the video. Also that big file, bit of a challenge for older pc's with slow HDD's

I believe the very slow re-encode is partially caused by the corrupt .mp4 file.
    The rest is CPU slowness.
Since my GPU is onboard I do not believe it is even being used.

Even though I have HDD's I believe they are fast enough.

    @ jc8952,
I guess the first transfer from the DVR through the ClonerAlliance Box Evolve device was corrupt for some reason.
The second try came out OK.
Did you make any different settings for the "device" ?
I'm guessing it has some settings.
What settings did you use for AVStoDVD for example FFMpegsource or A2DSource ?
Any other you might want to add.

Opening the source in Avidemux and trying to take a clip fails as Avidemux tells you it has "Invalid Timestamps".
Based on this it doersn't matter which settings or source filters in A2d are used, the file is bad.

I remuxed the source using MKVtoolnix and it now seems to be a good file; Avidemux doesn't complain.
I'm doing a quick run inA2D to see if this has fixed it.

I have Avidemux 2.7.4 32-bit. I loaded the video & cut it to make a clip.
Do I need to let Avidemux complete the clip before I get the error ?
Just loading the video did not give me an error about timestamps .

Probably a good software to use for this.

That is what I plan to do when ffmpeg gets finished.
    It is getting close.
