    You're welcome.
Once the script is loaded in A2D, right click on the title / edit source title info / video scan type
    type "interlaced"
This will now create an interlaced DVD

The problem is what to put in the script to best apply your effects, the problem is that you can't
apply many (most) filters to interlaced video without severely damaging the quality.

See what jagabo and PDR come up with in the other thread. Might be best to provide a video sample

I'm sure I'm missing something here, but all I want to do is add a menu to an existing DVD folder structure/ISO. I tried loading the VTS.ifo file in the DVD folder, but it looked like the program just hung up and sat there. Primarily I would be taking an existing DVD, either converting from PAL to NTSC or taking a resulting conversion from BDRB with the Alternate Output set to a playable DVD folder structure. But in these cases I will need to add a simple menu or my friend's super old DVD player won't play it unless it has a menu.

So, just to start, how do I simply import/load a DVD folder structure into the program because the VTS.ifo file didn't seem to work.

Thanks! BTW, if there is even an easier was simply to add a menu to an existing DVD structure that would be great too.

Hmmm, I've heard of that but never used it. I just assumed it was for more esoteric manipulation. But, I'll check it out, thanks!

I'm having trouble with AVStoDVD again. Can't seem to find the problem. I used this a week ago on a similar mp4 file and it worked perfectly. Today though with teh same settings the audio is way out of sync with the video. It starts out in sync but by the end of the 2 and a half hour video the audio is at least a minute behind. In the preferences, AVsynth tab, I have FFMpegsource selected for both video and audio, Also using smart selection in the video and audio tabs. Below is the log file....

OK, I just ran it again but this time in the preferences audio tab I chose FFMpeg (safe mode). This time the audio was ahead of the video by the end.

In your log it shows that the video and audio are different lengths - this has something to do with the source

I don't know how that happened. Its just an mp4 video and it plays correctly with everything synced. Can it be fixed?

Something to try. Open the file in Audacity and export a new audio file as 16 bit WAV.
    Use that in your project

If it doesn't help take a 60 second clip from the source video using Avidemux and post it here

  10. @ Lathe,
I have used this program many times to create a menu.
It is what I use when I want to do a menu for a TV series so the episodes can be selected individually.

    TitleWriter
Here are some menu samples I've done:
I just us a black.jpg for the background & choose the font & color in TitleWriters GUI.

It won't open the mp4 in Audacity. The audio is not a separate file.
I record these every fall and usually there is no problems converting them to DVD. The last one I tried using Safe Mode, the audio was not so far off so I think I will just use that and hope it works next week. These are football games recorded from TV using a video capture device.

Thank you so much for your help. Its nice to see people still here.

In Audacity, you have to install the ffmpeg supplement. IT's in the preferences/library.
Then it can open the mp4

  13. @jc8952,
    Do you have MediInfo?
Post what it says if you do. From the .mp4 file.
It should show if the video & audio tracks are the same length.
This is how I have AvstoDVD\Preferences set:

  15. You need to choose View\Text.
Then show the Video & Audio stats.
These will have the length of each.

  19. @jc8952,
Try the settings as I have them in the post#283 examples.
If your video is still out of sync after that I believe it is a timestamp problem.

It might be fixable using ffmpeg with command line.
ffmpeg is a might fix solution & it also might not fix the problem & be a waste of time.

I don't think the stream length in mediainfo is always accurate,
can't rely on that. Mediainfo doesn't run through the whole stream to check,
it's either inferred or it comes from the header

Cholla I tried the settings you had in post #283 and it didn't make any difference. The audio is still out of sync. I don't understand this. I have been making mp4 captures of TV to DVD videos just like this for a couple of years now and haven't had this problem before.

The video is variable frame rate, this often causes problems
Did you attempt what I mentioned earlier?
    Quote Quote
  24. @jc8952,
Did you also make settings in the "Settings" for this video in addition to the "Preferences" settings ?
If you left the settings at default then it did "Auto Video Setup" & "Video Direct Stream Copy".
Also "Auto Audio Setup!" &" Audio Direct Stream Copy".
You want to uncheck all of those for a full encode.
The "General tab should look something like this:
    Image
[Attachment 82114 - Click to enlarge]

You may also get this warning:
    Image
[Attachment 82111 - Click to enlarge]

Sometimes you have to try it both ways to get the video correct.

If AVStoDVD still fails then you probably have a timestamp problem.
As I posted ffmpeg might be able to correct that.

I tried cholla's suggestions on the settings and no difference. I also tried davexnet's suggestion about making a new audio file of 16 bit WAV and that didn't make any difference. I've now downloaded Avidemux but still trying to figure out how to use it to cut a clip out to post.
I will post that as soon as I can. Too much work during the day and not enough time in the evenings to do all this. I really appreciate your help guys.

what's really frustrating is the original mp4 file plays just fine with no sign of audio being out of sync.

Drag the cursor and use the A and B buttons to set a start and end point for the clip,
the stuff on the left defaults to (video)Copy, (audio)Copy, and (output format) MKV which is fine, leave as-is.
    File/Save

When you extracted the audio and saved as a WAV, what was the length in hours, minutes and seconds?

  27. @jc8952,
Do as davexnet instructed to make a clip
Maybe he or someone can find the fix with just a clip.

I believe I would need the whole .mp4 to maybe find a fix.
It would be too large to upload here.
You could use GoogleDrive if that is what you decide to do.

My go to is usually ffmpeg.
I would first try an extension change with it.
    No complicated encode at first.

    Something like this:
    Code:
    ffmpeg i "input.mp4 -c copy output.mkv
I might try similar with mkvtoolnix.

Davexnet, When I open the WAV file it is exactly 1 min. shorter than the video. WAV is 2 hours 35 min. 13 sec. When I open the orginal mp4 it says 2 hours 36 min. 13 sec.
