Problems with WDM 2861 capture

Hello

I am a newbie here and start with a problem of my usb video grab device: UVG01 by GEMBIRD

My new UVG01 with the chipset SAA 7113 and ELM 2860 records the video, but only short sequences of about 1-2 sec, after then a short pause of 0.5 sec, then only 1-2 sec video sequence.

I found following information about the driver: USB 2861 device - eMPIA Technology - 20.08.2010 - 5.2010.820.0

Know anybody this grab device and this problem?
Is the device defect or is it system or user error?

My goal is to archive all of my old VHS videos.
