What is the root cause of a player not recognizing certain 4 GB memory stick?
Unlike specified the player can read also NTFS formatted stick. No problem with reading 16 GB NTFS memory for instance, or 320 GB and 500 GB HDD. This 4 GB stick was originally formatted FAT32, reformatting to NTFS didn't help, as well as formatting back to FAT32. The player itself has latest FW.

Maybe an incompatible cheapo manufacturing process or slowly dying?!?

Most likely it's what [_chef_] said. Cheap flash drives don't take a lot of reformatting. I only buy Patriot flash drives now because they work reliably and are OK with reformatting a reasonable number of times (ie. reformatting EVERY day is probably not reasonable).

Well, I got this flash drive as present. But it works fine with PC. Test shows reading speed around 15 Mb/s. I've reformatted it only twice hoping to see the difference. The oldest compatible flash is 128 MB Apacer and the newest 16 GB Kingston, purchased in 2012. May it be player's USB driver problem?
