Switch region manually

Hi,

I have a Philips DVD710 and it's region free, but I read that it will play SVCD only in region 1.

So my question is, does anybody know how I can switch this player manual to region 1 and back to region 2 OR how to burn the region code to the SVCD's?

SVCDs don't have a region code. Only DVDs do. Have you actually tried playing one?

I made one with DVD2SVCD and tried to play it, but the player can't read the SVCD. Only when I convert it to XVCD with a max bitrate of 2500 the player wil play it. I tried also to make a SVCD with the same bitrate, but without succes.

I would like to know from someone who reported that this drive plays SVCD how they did it.
