It depends on if all the clips are the same bitrate/resolution otherwise you'll be re-encoding them. I can only tell you what I use that is totally "FREE" and fully functional. I use Freemake Video Converter as my DVD Decrypter/Ripper/Converter(you can cut pieces out of the clips). If you want to give it a try, watch when installing that you uncheck boxes that are checked or you'll also install the toolbar which obviously is unnecessary.

  3. I can suggest a freeware and quick way to do it, except there won't be any transitions.

    1. Get DVDshrink
    2. Use DVDshrink's re-author mode, to rip the three segment into three folders.
    3. Start a new DVDshrink project, and use re-author mode, to add the three segments into one video, and export.
    4. Done.

Using dvdshrink will work fine if it's a dvd or ripped dvd (ie. a video_ts folder) source. Otherwise I don't think so.

Generally with free / cheap editors you can only cut on what's called a key frame. I'm not going to explain what that is ... look it up ... but that means you probably won't be able to cut exactly where you want. Whether it'll do smarter editing depends on what type of video it is.

The editor I mostly use (not that much really though) is avidemux. Version 2.5.4 (which is the newest thoroughly tested linux version) will only do smart cuts with xvid files. Apparently 2.6 will do this with h.264 but I haven't used it.

Avidemux ain't that noob friendly though, but . Frankly I don't know of any really good free editors, period, let alone good and easy too.

However I don't think the cheaper paid ones are any better. Except for something involving standards like dvdfab I'd say that media software is something where you do not get what you pay for. Unless you're talking serious pro stuff. Which isn't easy.

As wolfen indicated, it's not really possible to say without knowing what the specs of these videos are. But I disagree about freemake. I tried it and thought it was junk.

  5. ok so from what i understand the

first thing to do is to translate the original (mp4 avi wma dvdrip) vid into the same type
    and then
second to use a video editing free soft right?

freemake video would be for one right?

and for part if key sequence are already cut parts i would prefer to personally choose beginning and ending. so wich soft does it free?

  9. No, I wasn't asking about legality....if you withhold information, how can anyone know what you are doing?
This forum is not made up of mind readers.
Be as thorough as possible else those reading will have to guess at what you are doing.

So...what do you want to do?
Perhaps our answers can be as cryptic as your information?
