Hello everyone. I have been racking my brain for 3 hours trying to fix my problem. I have 12 video files from a recording in 1920x1080 resolution. And 2 are 1920x1004 (these were not full screen when others was all are avi format. I been trying to join all of them to make one large video file to eventually upload to youtube. But of course them being different resolutions it wont let me. I take the 2 files and added a border to make it 1920x1080 and it wont work. I take the 2 files and resize them but still no luck keeps giving me errors that they are different resolutions even when I change them. Im using avidemux and virtural dub (veedub64) and windows movie maker none work. I am an extreme novice to video editing but wanna learn. What can I do to fix this.
Thanks

Since your source is Fraps and your targeting YouTube you'll need to re-encode all your 12 videos, ie not so much need to focus on the two that deviate since all may be join during re-encoding.

You may try FormatFactory if you'r novice since it is fairly easy to use. Under "Advanced" in the left coulum select "Join" and have you output settings match those for YouTube

(I've try to see if YouTube migth have a tutorial on joining in FormatFactory but frankly didn't find the one I found recommendable. But perhaps you have more luck if you try yourself.)

Why not resize them all to a smaller standard resolution, assuming they are all either NTSC or PAL, and then join these together

It will take much less to upload and be easier for others to play from their end .... unless it MUST be 1920x1080

No they dont have to be all that size its just my standard record size. But I have tried to resize them and it still rejects them. Gives me error different resolution size or different compression . The two files are not that very important just might leave them out ?? If its this trouble I will make sure to leave it all full screen and record it that way.

AnyVideoConverter will do it. There's a free version. You just need to load and select them all, right click and choose "merge output". AVC's default settings will probably allow it to work fine (choose your desired output resolution from the list or type it in). If it gives you an error, go into it's options and change the ones for resizing video. I think checking both "fit to width" and "expand to frame size" will get it to resize them all to the same resolution by adding any black borders where necessary in order not to distort the picture.

Just below the resize setting under the Video tab, there's one for audio sync. If you have sync problems, crank it up to maximum and choose "default" as the audio sync method in the section for setting up the audio encoder.

What is the aversion to using a standard NLE? That would certainly do the trick.
