I had been happily burning VCD (PAL) format CD's using VideoWave 4 with my VHS-C camcorder.
However I decided I wanted the better quality that DV could offer, so I purchased a Sharp DV camcorder.
However using the same technique as I used to use with my analog camcorder I am unhappy with the final VCD that has been cut.
While editing the DV original in VideoWave 4 everything looks OK, but when I save it out in VCD format I can see the vertical lines get "jaggy" - sorry don't know what the technical term is. While static shots look OK, when I have moed the camera or am zooming you see the jaggies.
What is the problem here?
Thanks for the help.

This is major problem with VCD. It uses the mpeg1 codec which is approximately vhs picture quality. If you move the cam you will notice that parts of the picture will pixelate or look like little squares. I had this problem and was informed to download the tmpgenc encoder which will encode avi-mpeg. I did this and the picture was much improved. Look on the main index of vcd helper.com and click on How to CONVERT. You will find information on avi to mpeg1(vcd) here and how to use tmpgenc to its full potential.
Hope this helps a little.
