Friends
Is it just me or does the wizard in TMPEG set the KBPS to 2520 by default when selecting Super VCD?
I thought the SVCD has a lower KBPS?
Cheers

If you are referring to the max bitrate then no, in fact it can be higher. The svcd max video bitrate is 2600kbits per sec. The total combined bitrate (audio + video) is ~2.77mbits. So factor in audio and overhead data and 2520kbits is a pretty reasonable video max to encode with.

Thanks Adam
But why does my DVD player stutter when I encode at the TMPEG default rate 2520? and as soon as I lower the rate to 2200 it plays smoothly?
Cheers

are you using a sony dvd player? try setting the audio to 128kbps if you're using 2520kbps video. 2500kbps video and 224 audio works too, so maybe you could use 2520 and 160 or 192 (i haven't tried)

Some dvd players have stricter limits than what the standard allows. Pioneer dvd players are known for having difficulty with video bitrates above ~2500kbits or so. A template is simply a suggested setting, nothing else. Ultimately all you can do is choose settings that work best on your dvd player.
