LiteOn LVW-5006 Firmware

Does anyone know where latest firmware for LiteOn LVW-5006 may be found? I recently bought this recorder on eBay which has the 0092 firmware with serial number 0104.1840.0092.B205(101.010D), and I think the latest firmware is the 0101. LiteOn no longer has firmware updates for the recorder, and all Google search results in links to 0101 firmware that no longer work.

Hi bevills , I've compressed the file to .rar format, this site does not recognize the firmware format so couldn't attach it straight. You'll need to extract it first. This is the hacked 0098 firmware for the 5006 which I took the time to download back in 2007 !!!. Hope it works for you. The 0101 firmware is when Liteon figured out how to write firmware that could not be hacked, last version that could be hacked was the 0098.

I already obtained the 0098 file from CDFreaks LiteOn Recorder Firmware page, but thanks for providing it in case I didn't find it. I suppose what I really seek is the DVD drive firmware update. As you may or may not know the B205 in the serial number is the firmware version of the DVD drive. I'm not sure, but I think this firmware is for the 813 drive and latest firmware for that drive is B20G if memory serves. Do you know if there's a drive only update that can be flashed to the recorder and where firmware may be found if it can be flashed?

Before LiteOn stopped offering firmware updates for these units I downloaded latest 5005 firmware and flashed it to a 5005 recorder to fix a 16x media issue, and I then flashed the 5005 with the system only modified 0098 macrovision free firmware resulting in fixed 16x media problem plus macrovision free. This is why I want either the correct 0101 update for the 5006 or drive only update for the DVD drive.

Sorry bevills1, that's the only firmware file I have for the 5006. I wasn't paying that much attention to this model not having one so never really looked for any other updates. Good luck.

Latest firmware (LNHA1101.E30) for my unit was obtained via email request to LiteOn support. Others seeking firmware for LiteOn recorders might want to try this for their model if they need firmware update. Note I included serial number as it was when I got it from eBay that is necessary to determine correct firmware update because DVD drive firmware version is included in the serial number and is needed to correctly identify the DVD drive in order to provide correct update for the DVD drive.

FYI I also found links to the drive only firmware update, but that requires connecting the drive to a PC with recorder plug removed to flash the drive only firmware which is a bit more involved than just flashing to the recorder. However, that approach remains an option if any are unable to get needed updates from LiteOn support.
