  1. Good day everybody,

I have recently got a irdeto clearview HD set top box, which records programs in .mts format onto a USB. It plays back fine in the set top box, but they are unable to play or edit on PC.

I tried various methods as described in the forums, like Videoredo, TSmuxer, TS splitter, MPCHC, BS movie player, VLC etc... nothing seems to touch it at all. Media info gives the information as

    BDAV no PAT/PMT.

I have attached a 10MB sample from those recordings, your expert advice and help is much appreciated

It is possibly encrypted - read this article.

Not sure where you are aus ? Australia? if Australia = au then you would be better off having a Topfield or Beyonwiz STB as there are no editing restrictions or encryption as long as you stay away from models with the "Freeview" logo that offer no advantage over non "Freeview" models.

As netmask56 said, PVRs are notorious for using proprietary encryption on their recorded files. Typically the only way to get files off of such devices is to play the files and send the output to a PC video capture card or capture device of some kind (ie. DVD recorder) and record in real time.
