Help ! What is mpeg 4 (update 4-3-02)

I have some movies that are microsoft high speed mepg4 v3 . I would like to convert it so I can put it on a vcd. Thanks I should say that virtualdub13c says that it is mpeg 4, but it is a avi fromat. it will not work on TMPGEnc .

if i recall correctly, microsoft does not want anyone to use that codec in an avi file. it is meant for the wmv format, so that means other programs cannot view it. you need to re-encode your video with a different codec, ms v2 or divx or something

It is a avi file.?. hmm I guess there no way to convert ? I downloaded it from the net.

mpeg4 is divx.

Just install the codec

Search grokster for "Mpeg4 Codec.exe"

And some others that I quite like

V3 unlocked Mpg4c32.dll
Wmvds32.ax
3.11 Alpha

Install and convert away
