How does the mkv look in windows media player?

Can you post a screenshot how it looks like? Open the dvd with mpchc, file->save image.

  3. After checking Baldrick's suggestion, if it plays, do the following:

    1. Donwload GraphEdit

    2. Render the mkv with GraphEdit

    3. Post here the resulting graph image

  6. AVStoDVD is a 32 bit software and it uses 32 bit approach, even if your system is 64 bit.

From the GraphEdit output, there are some problems:

    1. Video section: ffdshow is not used. You have Windows 7, right? See AVStoDVD Help/FAQ/General/Q1.5

    2. Audio section: there is redundancy of AC3 decoders. Uninstall AC3Filter and have only ffdshow as AC3 decoder.

    Let me know

  9. Personally I prefer ffdshow for everything but Microsoft stuff (VC1, wmv). But I suggest you to try the differences and judge with your eyes.
