Aliasing normally and other playback problems are normally due to:
a. the graphic card drivers used
b. a problem with the resizer used
c. a problem with the display renderer used
d. a problem with the source
e. a broken decoder
Never used Potplayer and like a lot of people I use MPC-HC in Combo with LAV Filters + xy-vsfilter and MadVR.
There are a bunch of guides out there which explain how to setup this combo. (google if you like to know) -
I installed xy-vsfilter, but How can I activate it on MPC-HC? I can't find it on external filters...
Madvr was good in windows xp. It is not work on my Windows Vista and windows7 systems. After the instalation of MADVR, I can't activate it. MPCH-HC says: "Madvr unavaiable" in video output formats.Last edited by Stears555; 14th Jan 2013 at 03:59.

a. it might work without having to specidy it
b. if xy-Filters is listed, it is listed as DirectVobSub
-> https://azurehakua.wordpress.com/2012/02/23/mpc-hc-lav-filters-xy-vsfilter-madvr/ -
Directvobsub is unable to play progressive segmented frame videos properly.
Madvr is a "32bit only" application... -

Just try it: http://dictaphone.atw.hu/mozdony.MTS (It's only 67Mbyte) -
If you encounter aliasing using MadVR it's probably due to the resizer that is used for down scaling.
MadVR settings allow you to select a different one, than the default. (personally I use Bicubic@75 sharpness)
-> if you are not using MadVR you might want to use a renderer that also allows you to specify a different resizer for downscaling. -
Don't need more options and filters I don't use. I'm happy with the filters I named.

The little Nonverbla flash web-video player can play fullHD contents in a small video-window without any aliasing, but the special video players are unable to do that internally?
b. like nonverblaster most of the players around are 'just' different guis that use different spliter/filter/decoder/renderer in the background. So unless they use a filter/renderer which allows to change the resizing they can't do much. (if flash player didn't allow to enable smoothing, most flash players couldn't do it either)

Exactly where Sulur pointed. Options->Playback->Output:
This isn't MPCHC's resizer, it's where MPCHC tells the graphic card which resizing algorithm is preferred. If the graphics card doesn't respond it's a bug in the driver. And that is very common. -
