Joing Video Files - Phasing In and Out

Hello

I have some avi video files which i have individually cut 4-5 seconds off the start and end from original files. I want to join each of the files together to make one big video file. Ideally, I would like to do it in away that each file would phase in and out of each other and make it look professional.

Is there a software that will do this?

Windows Movie Maker? The effect I think you mean is called a crossfade.

Yes, Avidemux can also do basic editing and fading, as can Avisynth etc.
