  1. Hi, I followed the steps above (downloaded the German trainer at http://code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/downloads/detail?name=tesseract-ocr-3.02.deu.tar.gz&can=2&q= and extracted, which contains two files, one of which was the dictionary file I guess).

Unfortunately, still no option for German in SE OCR extraction from .vob. Any suggestion? Or does he automatically use the files when English is checked, which is the only option I have.

Help appreciated, and thanks for your time and effort!

Did you extract the german tess files into the subtitle edit folder? The folder name has to be changed to tesseract from tesseract-ocr before you put the folder into the subtitle edit folder.

  7. Didn't know I had to put something into the subtitle edit folder.
subtitle edit root folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Subtitle Edit
    tesseract root folder: C:\Users\chatumao\AppData\Local\Tesseract-OCR

In my se folder there already is a tesseract folder, I guess it's been there ever since?

So I put the tesseract root folder into the se root folder after deleting the original tesseract folder?
I put the downloaded german files into the tesseract root folder by the way.

Extract the tesseract-ocr to your desktop and rename it tesseract, then copy the tesseract folder to your main subtitle edit root folder, dont delete the original tesseract folder in subtitle edit.
