  1. I have some flv files that need some work, mainly to adjust color/brightness along with the usual cutting and pasting parts. The problems I've run into so far are no support for nellymoser audio, limits on file size or no color/brightness adjustments in the more popular free editors out there. The ones that do work have had various restrictions trying to force you to buy the full versions of the software.

So have anyone had good experiences with any editor that isn't crippled, offers more than cut and paste editing and has good audio codec support?

    For FLV files?
    You're kidding right?

Avidemux is probably the closest match.

But who works with flv files? Get a better source.

Ahh, a VideoRIDICULER has his say. I'm not so glad.

Not in the least. "The Boss" can be stern, but, as in this case, at least his comment is to the point and helpful, albeit brief.

  7. If I had some other source then I wouldn't be asking for a flv editor to start with, sadly that isn't an option at the moment. That said, thanks for you input, I'll keep up the search someplace else perhaps.

Or reconvert to an avi with avidemux, ffmpeg, xmedia recode, etc. Use a lossless video codec like huffyuv to avoid any more video quality loss.

FileLab free video editor will directly work flv. It's not in the tools section here yet, but I'm sure that it will be someday (hint hint). Works in your browser as a plug-in, so it will work on most operating systems. The downside of the program is that you need an internet connection, and must sign-in to Yahoo, Facebook, or Google to use (believe that they're the sponsors). But you won't need to upload your video, and you work it directly on your computer. Another downside is that you need to work your project in one sitting as there is no project save function. Here's a short video tutorial showing some of its features. If it looks interesting, why not give it a try. I'm pretty sure that you'll like it.

  10. woody345, sorry you ran into a few less-than-helpful, less-than-courteous responders here. Ignore such: They are in the minority, thankfully, but far too prone to offer such caustic "help."

At the bottom of this page is a "similar threads" section which might provide some additional help.

That was actually not too bad as far as doing what I wanted, sadly though it can't handle the audio portion of my files so the modified file is without sound. Thank you though for the tip, I might find use for it some other day in the future.

Thanks Cobra, I'll give those a look and see if anything looks promising.

I'll look at those suggestions. I was concerned they couldn't handle the audio codec which led me here after some googling.
