So I made the mistake of editing Avisynth files that combine multiple AVI files using AviSource. Now I'm getting the "Couldn't locate the decompressor for fourcc/xvid" error even though I have the codec inside and only 15 AVS files. I know this error is related to http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=131687 this dll for the codec error but I'm not sure what to do about it. I've edited all my files in Adobe Premiere CS4 and when I try to export, I can't because I have that error. Is there ANY way to export what I have without having to recreate my project? This was hours and hours of work so I'm pretty desperate.

I was able to open 75 DV AVI files. I got the error at 76. That was using 32 bit AviSynth under 64 bit Windows 7. I was opening the same file every time though. I don't know if that made a difference.
As was noted in the doom9 thread, DirectShow was able to open more videos. Another way around the problem is to open and append your Xvid AVI files in VirtualDub with Direct Stream Copy mode (no reencoding). -
Other workarounds: they suggested ffmpegsource in that thread (it's been updated to ffmpegsource2 since)
Directshowsource isn't necessarily frame accurate and might (*it will*) give you problems when you do non linear seeks and editing
If you don't feel like find&replacing all entries of AVISource in each avs, the definitive workaround is to export the avs to lossless AVI intermediate, replace each .avs with the replace footage command in premiere (if they are organized in a folder with the same name, replacing the 1st one should replace all 15 and each subsequent reference of each .avs on the timeline(s) ) -
Thanks! I'm encoding them with VirtualDub to AVI's and replacing them and that's working.
