  1. Just got a Hercules Radeon AIW 7500 card. I also have a Soundblaster Live card. I am havings problems with the audio being extremely inconsistent. It really booms, especially with voices, and I can't find anyway of dealing with it. I thought there might be like a maximum setting like with audio recording equiptment to stop volumes going over a fixed amount, but can't find anything (just the usual volume sliders).

I had initially connected the line out of the AIW to the line in of the SBLive, but then realised that there's an internal connector on each, and have now connected from the AIW cd/s card out to the aux on the SBLive (internally), but this hasn't really made much difference.

My mobo is an Abit KT7A-raid. I don't seem to have probs capturing (yet.....early days!), but the audio on playback is the same as when it was recorded, with the volume booming.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.....

Try this to see if it helps.
    1. Open your volume control
    2. Go to options then properties
    3. Under Adjust volume control for click on recording
    4. verify in the show volume control that Line in or what ever you are using for capturing audio is checked
    5. Click OK
    6. You should now show the recording volume controls and will be able to adjust the volume for your input source.

  3. Yes, that's made quite a difference! Thanks. Still not as good as the composite in sound, but certainly getting there, and more consistant (to be honest, I didn;t even know that section was there! I knew about adjusting playback, and had tinkered with that, but didn't realise there was seperate controls for recording....doh! That must be why my mic never worked properly!)

Don't feel lonely, I had the same problem. Then I stumbled into that section and started playing with the level until it sounded good. Kept making short 1-2 minutes clips and played them back til it sounded good. :P
