  1. The movie is PAL MPEG2 and audio is AC3.

Mkvtoolnix merges the .vob files but framerate and aspect ratio is wrong. And it reports

"Warning: Found one or more B frames without second reference in the first GOP. You may want to fix the MPEG2 video stream or use smart reencode before attempting to multiplex it."

SMplayer can play the movie fine, but on LCD TV it's bad.

Mkvtoolnix can set framerate and aspect ratio on the movie, so it appears in movie info, but it still doesn't work on LCD TV. Hundreds of other movies do, but this doesn't.

DVDPatcher can set framerate and aspect ratio on MPEG2 movie too, but what is patching entire movie good for? Because using it seems to ruin the video completely. And still the aspect ratio is wrong on LCD TV, while plenty of other videos work fine.

Avidemux can force the aspect ratio of the mkv, but it doesn't work on LCD TV either. Still when mkv doesn't play on the LCD TV, copying all with avidemux one extra time fx after using mkvtoolnix to remux, usually makes it play on the LCD TV even if the aspect ratio is wrong. So what does avidemux actually do to videos, that makes them playable, just by copying? Sometimes sound is gone or the LCD TV shut down, but a copy works??

I would try remux to a mpg with vob2mpg and see if it works on the LCD TV.
