    Can someone tell me the difference between the master bus and the volume slider on the audio track? Must I keep them both at 0.0db? I can't seem to get the volume right.

    you only need a master bus for surround sound. and no you can adjust the sliders wherever you need to. neither one means the encoded output will be at 0db.
