I have some DVDs ripped to AVI with XviD (MPEG-4). They display horrible motion blur, not just with panning shots, but also when characters cross through the frame. I've tried playing them with Daum (internal filters) and MPC-HC (LAV filters) using EVR Custom on a Win 7/64 machine with an nVidia GT-430.

Is there a better combination of filters and renderer that would minimize the blur, or is it baked in from the re-encode?

Who knows, since you provided no details at all as to how the conversion was made. My guess is that it's user error.

Samples are needed. 10 seconds with steady movement from both the source DVD and from the output XviD that shows the problem.

I didn't make the conversion, or else I would have. Thanks for the help.

Then there's probably nothing you can do to fix the problem.

Thank you. That's what I wanted to know.

  6. Actually, if the problem is a telecined video that's been blend deinterlaced there is an AviSynth filter that can largely undo it. It's fairly advanced though.

I have AviSynth installed already, so I'll look into it. Thx.
