Hello!
I have a motherboard that has PCIe 1.0 but I'm thinking of getting an ATI Radeon HD 7750 which is a PCIe 3.0 card. Now I understand that 3.0 should be backwards compatible with 1.0 but I've also heard that it can be a bit of a crap shoot (may or may not work).
Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?
By the way I'm picking the ATI Radeon HD 7750 due to the fact that it is the most powerful video card today that doesn't require a direct connection to the power supply (draws power from the PCIe bus). My power supply is 400 Watts and is basically a "stock" or "no frills" model. My understanding is that it should be fine with this card whereas so many other cards require more power (and a direct connection to the power supply). So basically I've picked this model of video card in order to get the best performance without needing to upgrade my power supply.
