Hey everyone,
I always seem to have pass through issues, so here's my latest one.
I have connected my video card to my home theater receiver via HDMI. The idea is to have the audio streams of movies pass through to the receiver and play the sound unaltered from the PC.
It works with DTS and AC3 files, the receiver shows DTS and DD respectively.
Also, with AAC 5.1, it shows MULTI CHANNEL, which I believe is because the receiver does not decode AAC natively. Regardless, it sounds great, so I'm happy.
The problem now is with DTS-MA, the receiver only shows DTS, not DTS-MA.
I tried uninstalling FFDShow, playing a movie with a DTS-MA track, and nothing changes. I installed the latest version, and I have passthrough enabled for all the formats as shown in the screenshot, and same result:
I tried using the Haali Media Splitter, and selected the DTS-MA track, and nothing changes either.
It shows that my receiver supports the formats:
What else do I need to configure?? I figured it would just be plug and play.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
AVR: Denon 1712
Video Card: NVIDIA GT 610 (latest drivers)
Thanks

Just a guess since nobody has yet offered an answer...
I don't know what ffdshow means when they say "DTS-HD". This could mean that they actually only support DTS-HD High Resolution audio, which is a slightly different format from DTS-HD MA. If that is the case, then it means that ffdshow doesn't support DTS-HD MA at all except to give you DTS core audio extracted from the MA audio. Again, I am just speculating here, but it does explain what you see. -
I'm pretty sure jman98's guess is the correct one.

Ok, so if I block MPCHC from using ffdshow for DTS, then I figure it should just allow the DTS to go to the receiver untouched. But it still just shows as DTS, and not DTS-MA.
Also, any ideas for the winamp problem? I don't know why it was working fine before, but now it's not. Seems like I need to get it to output as PCM so the AVR can use the pro logic setting. -
You could try LAV Splitter and enable 'Use DTS-HD framing for all DTS types' in it's audio configuration.

YES! That fixed it. Thanks! What a pain in the ass.
Also, I fixed my winamp problem. Apparently I have to tell windows I have 2.0 speakers, not 5.1. As weird as that sounds, it fixed my winamp, and any videos I had with a stereo MP3 track.
The bitstreaming still works great for everything else.
