  1. Mmh, what other device shall I try? I only have the HD PVR for my Gameplays, and I dont know what else I could buy... There's only the new Hauppauge HD PVR2, which I doubt will work either if the first Edition doesn't already. And, honestly, I can't just buy a TV Card to "try" if it works (I wouldnt be able to get it in the PC by myself too...)
The HD PVR 2 (or Elegato Game Capture) is even kinda expensive and USB bounded too.

  2. Try recording from a cable or satellite box. Or some other box with HD component outputs.

    General information about ground loops:

In video, ground loops can be seen as hum bars (bands of slightly different brightness) scrolling vertically up the screen.

Try plugging all devices into the same power strip. If you have cable TV coax connected to any of the devices disconnect it (this is a very common source of noise). Unplug any other devices on the same circuit.

Fortunately this is not an old thread, I have the same flickering problem, I've notice it recently cause i bought the component cable probably the problem was already there in SD but I wasn't able to see it.
Anyway here's an example of my flickering, I don't have a noise problem:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8dadWdZWvw&feature=youtu.be

I think jagabo get it: the problem appear only when I plug in the usb chord, when I unplug it the flickering/noise disappears, so the problem is just due to that connection and the software is not involved.
Now, I've tried to see if the problem was in the power and I tried to close my mac with the usb connected and the flickering was still there, then I tried to quit the power to my laptop (that unfortunately needs it cos I dont have a battery) and the flickering disappeared. So I tried to plug all devices in the same power strip but it haven't solved the problem.

I think as jagado said that is a power problem, but the main problem now is how to fix that.

  5. Also find a battery and try running off that, without the wall wart.
