  1. What do I do if I want to cut clips from different video files, and then stitch them together for a new file?

Tell me if this is right:

Lets say I'm cutting clips from 2 YouTube mp4 files, so I cut out the clips in AviDemux, and make sure to select the output video and audio to "copy" and the file container to mp4, then save the clips with .mp4 extension. Correct?

My main concert is I want the clips to not be reconverted during cutting and stitching... I want to keep the video same as the original. Would the method I described keep the original video without any reconversions?

  2. yes, but the cut points have to be on keyframes - you're cuts won't necessarily be frame accurate (use the "<<" and ">>" buttons in the GUI to navigate to nearest keyframe)

  4. Another question:

I opened an mpeg-ts file of a home movie (which has .mts extension), and tried to trim the video and save it. I set the container to Mpeg TS Muxer (ff) and audio and video outputs to copy. I made sure to put it on key frames. Then I tried to save it as a .mts file, but I got an error message and nothing saved.

Did I do something wrong? Did I type a wrong file extension?

Did I do something wrong? How I type a wrong file extension?

    what was the error message?

are you using 2.6 versions ? or 2.5.x or earlier ?

Sometimes it doesn't work; can't complain too much about free software

You can try the software the comes with the camera, or tssniper, tsmuxer (cut by timecodes, no preview)

It says "Too Short: The video has been saved but seems to be incomplete."

And the next message says "Failed: File not saved correctly."

    I'm using version 2.6.0 64bit.

Yeah, I'm gonna use the software that came with my camera for the mpeg-ts files.
