  1. I've converted a few divx's to mpeg for vcd, and I've just ripped a dvd with smart ripper,DVD2AVI and tmpgenc converted to svcd. I'm getting a jerky mpeg as a result. It seems to pause momenterilly approx every second on playback. I've tried a few different settings but can't seem to get rid of it. I have quite a powerfull pc so horsepower isn't a problem. I'm using 10 bit cd component and highest quality motion search. I've tried interlace and non interlace, and I've tried doubling the VBV buffer size.

If anyone can sort this out I'll be very gratefull

    thanks in advance

  2. This is common if you have changed the format from NTSC film at 23.97fps to PAL at 25Fps. Check the framerate of the original using file->properties under win2k/XP or file->fileinformation under vdub. Ensure your conversion uses the same framerate/format as the original. If your DVD player/TV cannot play one of these formats search this forum for info on converting NTSC to Pal. Its not easy but can be done

  3. Thanks bugster, I have converted every film into 25 fps regardless of original, because I thought I had to. None of the guides have explained this well, I will give it a go sticking to the original framerate. Can I still convert an NTSC film into pal svcd but keep the original framrate and use the pal svcd resolution?

    Thanks

  4. Not really sure what you mean but I think the best advice is stick with the divx framerate and choose the format that applies to. i.e 23.97 is NTSCFilm, 25 is Pal and 29.97 is NTSC.

    Good Luck
