  1. Is there any way to do this using software? I know some cameras have digital pass-thru and most have video inputs for capture on to dv tape but mine has neither. TIA

  2. What do you mean by analog avi? Do you want to know how to convert a captured avi to dv avi or how to capture analog video in general? Sorry, didn't get the point.

  3. Sorry about my lack of clarity. I am capturing raw avi files from vhs-c tapes with v-dub and would like to convert them to dv avi (type 2 avi) using software of some sort.

  4. You will need a DV codec (eg from Mainconcept). Simply let vdub compress your raw avi choosing this codec as compressor.

  5. That sound like good idea but V-Dub doesn't work with dv avi. Thanks, though. Anybody have a clue how to do this?!?!?!

Virtualdub does work with Mainconcept's dv avi. If you create a new avi using the Mainconcept dv avi you will get a watermark until you pay the $50. However, you can use the trial version to open dv avi files in Virtualdub and frameserve to TMPGEnc, for example, w/o the watermark.

  7. I downloaded the MC dv codec and installed it but it doesn't show up under "Compression" in v-dub...
