Hello
I have a problem with the video signal when I try to encode from certain VHS videos.
I am using a Matrox G450e TV card, I have a Pent IV. 1.7G etc...
The problem I believe is how the card interpets the video signal.
I dont know exactly how to explain it but its - flicker, sort of a "S" roll, noise. yet the picture itself is fine when played on the TV.
This only happens with older videos or ones that are generated but not super poor quality, yet lesser quality than a 1st generation or store bought video.
Would a signal booster help? if so what brand or spec should I look for . Does anyone have any ideas or solutions?
I would be thankful for any help!
Thanks again

A cheap VCR could be the cause; so could really bad tapes.
A really high-end editing-type VCR (no longer made?) could help; so could a "video stabilizer" ($20 US); so could a "time base corrector" ($300+ ??). There is no way to know except to try each one.
Try cleaning your VCD heads and winding and rewinding your tapes (from one end to the other!) a few times -- this retensions the tapes which allows them to move smoothly through the mechanism.
