Strange.... there must be a ghost in my computer. This also is not working on my other laptop. i am testing with 2 laptops.

Objective : to burn a dvd movie to play in a dvd player

Tools: I have .avi movies, wmv movies formats and more. I have magic iso, windows movie maker and santa dvd maker. The dvds i am using are called SONY DVD-R 120min 4.7GB

Problem: I am using programs, They all go through and say that the dvd has been made successfully, but when I put the dvd into a player and play them, "incorrect disc", also when I put the dvd in my laptop to play it it says "its a blank disc"

What is going on? I can't burn a dvd movie? Do I need iso? what is this ghost ?

I have used many tools, Its just odd. Maybe you know something I don't know

does it need to be in iso ?? not sure. but i doubt it.

    Thanks in advance pros.

Are you burning with santa dvd maker?

I would use something better. Like ConvertXtodvd 5 or AVStodvd and burn it with imgburn.

Are you sure you are actually 'burning' ?

You put the blank disk in to your PC drive and can you see evidence of the disk being burned. That is the drive light comes on and stays on (or blinks) throughout the burning process. That itself could take some 10 minutes.

the light is blinking right now as i am burning with image burn. its crazy lol. what i did was took an .avi movie file, and used image burn to make an iso with it then burn it. Does it need to be an iso ? well i am doing it now . lets see if this works.

Imgburn does not need an iso. In fact I did not think it actually makes an iso from anything.

    You seem horribly confused.

Your authoring programs should create a folder called Video_TS. You import that folder in to imgburn NOT THE FILES INSIDE THE FOLDER and burn that.

OR you create an iso from the folder and burn that. But be careful as to which option you use as imgburn treats these differently. Otherwise you simply end up with a file called XXX.iso on that disk and that will not play either.

Well both of the programs you have used will author the dvd.

But having not used either, I do not know whether it is a two stage process or one. For two stages, the first stage is 'authoring'. That creates all the files required by the second stage - the burning process. The program should then have the neccessary options to be able to load the files wherever you saved them before you actually BURN the disk.

A one-stage process would do all this automatically as long as there is a disk in your dvd-burner.

A 'corrupt' movie should not result in an empty/incorrect disk. The program should give ample warnings if the source movie was bad.

It has already been suggested to you what to use. AVS2dvd for the authoring and imgburn for the burning. Both of these are proven.

ok. so far. still no success. i used winavi and other converters. they nicely convert to _TS files. Then i opened imgburn and did write files to disc. image burn said operation completed. put it in my dvd player and nothing.

Will you just do what has been suggested and NOT what you think is best.

_TS is NOT a file. It is the folder that is created by the authoring process.

If you are from US, you should choose NTSC and not PAL.
