Ive been playing AVI files on my Blu Ray for quite some time now via USB, however in one particular incident a movie is "Format unsupported", while other .avi files are not. Ive done countless USB plays on my player using AVI, and this certain avi file continues to be rejected. I've synced this particular movie to the usb just like I always have for every other movie.
My understanding is that AVI is a format, so why would this file be refused while the others weren't?

AVI is a container and a variety of audio and video could be inside of it. Apparently this AVI has some audio and/or video your player doesn't like. How about posting a MediaInfo Tree file of the one that won't play?

This is the file that doesn't work. A working file is posted below this.

Yeah, I noticed that too, Hack Of Avi. I don't know what that means. Maybe someone else does. However, you don't want it anyway because the person making it didn't know what he was doing. It's a 2:1 ratio (640x320) and the film is really 2.35:1. Either someone cut off the sides or (more likely) stretched it so people are too tall and thin looking.
Other than that it's a fairly standard DivX AVI (and not something out of the ordinary, as I was suspecting). However, the title of it says it's XviD. My suggestion is to check the fourCC name and change it to div5 or DX50 (if those are among the choices) if it says XviD. Use the Avi FourCC Code Changer.Last edited by manono; 5th Dec 2012 at 22:47.
