iTunes v11 went into pause mode so i can clean up hdd space, and i've resorted to uninstalling a lot of apps, but the backup process leaves me with 31mb on my hdd before kicking in the pause mode again. i'm out of ideas.

can i redirect itunes to use my external 1TB drive ?
i'm hoping that itunes was smart enough to include that as a feature.

what else can i do ?

Yes, you can redirect the "Library/Watch" folder. Don't remember how to do it right off the top of my head (I myself don't use iTunes, but I have to assist my daughter and son who do)...

But WHY is your boot/pgm drive so low in free space? That's never good. I try to never let my boot drive get more than 1/2 or 2/3 full. Transfer your image to a larger drive if you have to.

i know, i know.. give me the lecture later. i'm still behind in some chores. i have so many things i'm trying to fix and it does get confusing and over wellming at times. but i did have roughly 2gigs left on my hdd, and it ate that up fast. so it put itunes in pause mode so i could do add'l cleaning up. i removed some apps and deleted other things, temp folder, etc etc etc. it is still in pause mode and my ipod touch screen is still active with "Sync in Progress". all i want to do is update the iOS (so i can d/l apps, not to mention, allow the one's i have upgrade to latest versions) i've been stuck in 45 apps to update because they all now require min of iOS 4.3 to continue, so the installs bails.

i am out of space because the more i delete the more itunes will eat up to continue the sync process. i didn't ask it to sync. but it wants to back up everything on this 8gig ipod. i don't need it backed up, i just need to upgrade from 4.1 to 4.3 if thats not too much to ask.

i am reading everything i can (google searches) but am getting overwellmed. i don't understand half the stuff i read and some of it is redundant or duplicated. people love to copy other peoples articles. anyway. most the stuff i read are dead ends. here's a link i found but its over my head. i have a headacke trying to read. i hope this is not another dead end.

    http://www.getusb.info/itunes-backups-suck-your-hard-drive-space-how-to-fix-it/

edit: they mention a tool (NTFS Junctions) to use buts its not available. its another dead end.
