  1. I recently bought the kworld dvd make 2 usb to record videos of ps3 to the laptop. Bought the splitters and composite cables, but for some reason I captured fuzzy image and sound . If anyone knows how to fix this problem, will appreciated a lot. I think tried everything to solve the problem, but the result is the same.

I post a video on youtube:

    Thanks

it's a cheap little device that only captures dvd spec interlaced mpeg-2. then youtube has to re-encode to progressive mp4. looks about right. the audio is whatever is sent into your computer's audio in port.

  3. I know it is a cheap device and i´m not expecting a super quality image, but the thing is, when I plug to the laptop is the exact fuzzy image and sound that appear on the video above, is not youtube that is doing the fuzzy image and sound. On tv, the image and sound are normal but at the same time the image that appear in the laptop is fuzzy. My question is : Is something wrong that i´m doing with cables or other thing?

Instead of a link to youtube, post some of your actual capture file
as an attachment right here. 5 to 10 seconds should be enough.

why is it DVavi? the unit ONLY creates mpeg-2, anything else is going from mpeg-2 and re-rendering it to avi.

Are you sure that the device only creates mpeg-2? I was under the impression that it relied on software (the bundled CyberLink DVD Producer) to convert uncompressed video and audio into MPEG-2. Wouldn't it cost more to implement hardware encoding on the stick vs. just dump the raw bitstream and let the software / computer do all the work? Maybe USB doesn't have enough bandwidth to do that, not sure. In any case, I am getting poor results when using this product. I abandoned the Cyberlink crap because it aborted recording after incorrectly detecting copyright violation on my home video (camcorder home video source). I figured out how to enable the device in VirtualDub and successfully captured video and audio without compression (produced a 110 GB file for about 1 hour and 46 minutes of content). But is that video really raw or did the KWorld USB device convert it to MPEG2 and then VirtualDub uncompressed such that quality / resolution was lost by the whole process. If the device is compressing to MPEG2, how do I make it use the lowest level of compression possible to preserve the most quality?

Here's the link to the product that I purchased:

  11. So if I use VirtualDub and set it to raw compression for both audio and video, how do I force the USB device to capture (in MPEG2 if I must) at the highest bitrate possible? Or better, does anyone know of a good USB capture device that allows for capture in an uncompressed format?

  12. EZcap captures at DVD spec mpeg2 with the supplied Arcsoft software. If you use different software, maybe you can capture at different spec, I don't know. For the purpose of experimenting, I tried the free video capture software:
    http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html
but I had very bad results.
See example of Ezcap capture with supplied Arcsoft software:
