  1. Vudu now allows you to download HDX films to your laptop. Anyone figured out how to crack it? Would love to download some and burn to bd-r. They have great quality for films not currently available on Blu-ray legitimately.

Everything is stored as an F4F file and here's how to find them: C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\com.vudu.air.Dow nloader\Local Store

I doubt you will find anything other than doing some crappy screen capture. Wait for the blu-ray release.

Hard to say if no one knows. You originally posted on a weekend and a lot of our more experienced members don't participate on weekends. Just FYI.

I have never used Vudu but apparently it uses something called FlashAccess for DRM. I can't find any evidence of a program that can remove this. Some streaming DRM cannot be broken. Netflix uses Sliverlight and nobody's cracked it yet. Typically in such cases what you need to do is having a streaming media recorder of some kind that can record the stream in realtime like Replay Video Capture. To be blunt, Vudu allows downloads because they feel confident that you can't break their DRM, so that means you have to turn to a real time recording solution to get a copy. There are free ones but they rarely work very well. Replay Video Capture costs money but it works.

Vudu is currently the best way to watch movies streaming in HD. It's not Blu-ray quality but it still looks and sounds great. Many movies and TV shows on Vudu will never get blu-ray releases, unfortunately. And sony is one of the worst offenders when it comes to the format.

Thanks. I will just have to re-encode with my hauppauge then. Makes more sense.
It's unfortunate, considering I already have the movies downloaded to my laptop. I feel like there's nothing that can't be cracked...but I guess I'm wrong.

No. Plus, a few months ago the forum rules were changed to prohibit discussions on how to break DRM on rentals from paid video services like Amazon, Netflix, Vudu, Hulu Plus, etc.

Just as an aside here you can fully buy a movie/tv show on vudu. It's yours for as long as the service exists. It doesn't have an a ala carte rental subscription like the others. But you can rent on vudu but I don't think the downloading option is available for rentals, I think its for purchases only.

Just thought I'd offer some clarification on that as I use and love vudu personally (ps3 and standalone sony bluray player).
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
