  1. When I play a video in VLC it appears to be brighter than when I play it through other players such as MPC. I don't really know why this is happening or if there's a setting I missed to fix it. I'll post one example below. Sometimes the effect is more or less extreme depending on the video. Sorry that the images aren't the exact same frame and are cropped slightly differently, I'm in a hurry.

    One player might use your graphics cards overlay/hardware brightness settings and the other one no overlay and just the software brightness settings.


    Or both no overlay and just different brightness settings.

    Did you try searching "vlc contrast control"?

    I think it settings -> extended gui or something like that.
