[SanDisk Sansa Clip+] Good solution to pick up loudspeaker?

I searched the archives but didn't find infos about that cute little digital audio player that I use when jogging.

A thread on /. ("RockBox + Refurbished MP3 Players = Crowdsourced Audio Capture") the other day provided the idea to use it to record conferences with my camcorder when I'm too far from the loudspeakers, and just leave a Sansa Clip+ (2GB) in front of one of them and perform post-sync with eg. Audacity or PluralEyes.

I might replace the current native V01.02.16A firmware with Rockbox, which is supposed to offer "substantially improved battery life and added features such as parametric EQ, completely gapless playback and AAC audio playback."

I have a couple of questions:
1. Since input volume can't be configured, how does Clip+ perform when sound is too loud?
2. I'm thinking of using a clap or whistle after starting recording with the camcorder and the Clip+: What application would you recommend to perform post-sync painlessly?
3. I found no entry in Settings to configure the input recording format. A test shows that it records sound as "WAV mono, PCM S16 LE (araw) 24KHz 16 bit samples": Using the internal 2G memory (I'll add a microSD if needed), are my calculations correct? 384Kbps = 48KBps -> 2GB/48KBps = 41,666s = 694mn = 11h34mn?

do yourself a favor and get a shotgun mic for the cam. or at least a dedicated digital audio record like a zoom. the sansa is going to sound awful.

i like my clip with rockbox firmware as an mp3 player, but would never use it to record anything.
