Don 't get too excited. HD PVR's don't record VHS to HD, they record SD to SD.
i know that, but every time I record after a while of capturing footage, the picture gets broken up in parts, so I looked online and it seems that the manufacturer doesn't have a solution for that, so I was curious how you got it to work.

I would love to but I can't. I mean I see the skipping while it is being capture and also skips on playback after I stop capturing. It might also be flickering.

  3. ^^ Yeah, it could be a lot of things. Could be an issue with the device itself or just needing a time-base-corrector. Your computer sounds more than up to par for capturing SD footage, so I doubt it is the system itself.

What do you mean by "the picture gets broken up into parts"?

We would spin wheels taking wild guesses without a sample of what you captured. We don't need a 90-minute movie (the forum wouldn't allow that big an upload anyway). A few seconds of a faulty part is all that's needed.

Using my HDPVR I can capture HD from video games and tv just fine, no problems, but when capturing from VCR, some problem occurs where the pictures gets broken up into 3 or 4 parts.
Let's say you have someone sitting on a chair, what would happen is that sometime during the capture, the pcitrue gets broken up, where the leg of the chair would be on top of the persons head, and his leg would be on the right next to his body, all this is separated by a small black bar.

I also tried capturing different videos, now one of hem I captured in 720x480 and when capturing it doesn't skip or it doesn't drop frames, but on playback, it flickers or skips.
Then I tried 640x480 and the video is fine. I think 640x480 will be ok for a dvd.

Could be your capture setup has problems resizing incoming analog video. The source output is usually 640x480 (4:3), so capturing that input at 720x480 involves a resize of sorts. I'd rather work with filters and color adjust in the display ratio anyway. On encoding, encode at DVD standard 720x480.
