The effects are subtle, but they look like grain on some fast-moving objects. That could be encoding that wasn't specifically optimized for such rapid motion (? that's my guess ?). A light touch of QTGMC made motion look smoother, even when playing interlaced in VirtualDub.
RemoveSpots: there are a couple of other ways to kill spots. But it's a pain in the neck and takes forever.
