  1. I have a general question about selecting a file and saving with Avidemux, although this applies to other softwares as well. I have a bunch of files in a nested folder inside My Documents and I want to select each file to input into Avidemux. However, each time I try to input a file, instead of going right to the previous location where the files are, Avidemux always first looks in the Avidemux folder for the files. Then again, when saving the converted file, Avidemux wants to first save in the Avidemux folder, instead of the Desktop, where I always save the converted files. The result of this is that for each file inputed and saved, I need to make about 12 extra mouse clicks, which I feel is a waste of time. Is there a way that Avidemux can remember the general location where to input and save a file, to avoid all this wasted time to select the correct place to input/save?

  2. In general, it's the application's responsibility to keep track of the last used path. AviDemux does that for me. It appears to save that information in the "config2" file in its "settings" folder. Make sure it has write access to that file.

  3. I don't use AviDemux myself, but if jagabo says AviDemux should default to the last used location I'd have no reason to doubt him. A thought though.....

If you can't find a solution, maybe try creating shortcuts to your input and output folders and placing them inside the AviDemux folder. Hopefully then you can bypass quite a few mouse clicks by double clicking on the shortcuts when you open or save a file.

  4. There is a config2 file and I don't see any problem with the attributes (see screenshot). Maybe the best idea is (from hello_hello), just put all the files to be converted in a folder inside the Avidemux program folder, and then save the converted files in another folder inside Avidemux. It's just not my habit to save or put my files into program folders.

  5. He suggested shortcuts, not the files themselves.
