  1. Okay I am a complete newbie and I did the whole tutorial of how to convert it to mpeg and in TMPGEnc the background is black and never changes. Well I decided to keep going and convert it and when I finished I had the audio but I did not have any picture. Please help, I have now done it twice.

  2. Can you play the video outside of TMPGenc, or not?
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. No, none of the programs allow me to see the video. The .avi works fine though. It is a DVD rip divx of rush hour 2 that I downloaded, and am trying to convert it to vcd so I can play it on my Dreamcast :)

Have you tried other avi files?

Glad to know I'm not alone, can anyone help us newbies! :-?

    Thanks,

  6. I get the same problem too.. Just a black screen with no picture or sound. I have the movie "TRaining DAy" in avi format. I read somewhere that you have to install some codec called nimo or something?

  7. i think i know the 'problem' of black screens - I think! take a look at http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm, the problems parts - should have read it in the first place i guess! for those of you who can't convert any avi's i think u need all the codecs mentioned in the above link, nimo one is good, good to install all of them, thats wot ive done.

    Sunil.

  8. Sorry to jump in on your thread Andy

I've got Divx 5 and the Nimo5 codecs, still no luck.
    Do I need Divx 3 & 4 as well?

The weird thing is, the avi plays fine, just not the mpg (VCD/SVCD)

    Thanks,
    Chris.
