So i've been using Premiere 5 for a while now and just recently (Past week) it started giving me these Sync issues when i import files. I've done a bit of searching and can't find a solution. The files i have recorded (TS and M2TS) play back perfectly in my Media Player and Sony Vegas doesnt have any issues with it at all (But i hate using that software, its a backup for things like this), moved the files over to my other computer and same problem, i've been recording and rendering files for a while, nothing i done lately is different so i'm not sure why it works in everything apart from Premiere Pro.
Has anyone else experienced an issue like this?
if i cant find a solution i may have to manually adjust the Video/Audio in Premiere which is a pain or go back to Sony Vegas which i hate because i want best possible quality which Premiere gives.
I think i should add, the last thing i recorded had the issue while the previous two didnt. But while its like this, it isn't very reliable as a video editing solution

What project profile are you selecting in Premiere? Are you certain that there is a loss of sync in the final output, or is it just choking in the preview monitor (which could reflect CPU or RAM inadequacy). And what do you mean in implying that Vegas does not output quality as good as Premiere? What is your final output format? What export settings are you using? Too many unanswered questions to be able to offer much help.
I use Premiere at work and Vegas at home. I have no problems with either. But then again, I take the time to learn the ins and outs of the software I utilize. I would argue that both are VERY reliable editing solutions. -
I'm using the default Project Profile pretty much unless you mean sequence and Yeah it is in the final output, thats how i first noticed it. And its definitely not a CPU/RAM Inadequacy. Never had the issue until recently. As for Vegas, i want the best possible quality, i find that i get better results with Premiere

What are the source files derived from ?
To clarify - you said there were no sync issues before in PP with similar files? (For some reason this issue just popped up recently) ?
What kind of sync issues - is it a constant sync issue? Is progressively worsening ? Describe the problem
(If you're getting worse quality with vegas, you're doing something wrong - not using one or both of the programs properly, probably some setting or workflow issue you've overlooked . You can start another thread if you want help with that) -
I'm not doing anything wrong. I've been video editing professionally for years. Its well known that The only thing Vegas seems to update in new versions is the user interface, it uses ancient codecs. I definitely get much better results when using Premiere.
And to clarify, about a week ago i never had any problems with sync. Source files are derived from a high definition video recorder. The Audio and Video is out of sync by about 1 second. It doesnt seem to change or get worse.Last edited by Katsutoshi; 17th Nov 2012 at 11:44.

Which "codec" ? for example they both use Mainconcept AVC (vegas also offers "Sony" AVC) as well. You can also use other better encoders like x264 with either program - through lossless intermediates or frameserving .
And to clarify, about a week ago i never had any problems with sync. Source files are derived from a high definition video recorder. The Audio and Video is out of sync by about 1 second. It doesnt seem to change or get worse. -
Well for my latest few projects i'm using the Hauppauge HD PVR for its great H.264 quality. But i dont really see what that has to do with files not playing in Premiere properly.
I may try recording in a different format if i can't find a solution -
Because there are known issues with certain models and various software. (For example the HD PVR has specific firmware fix issued a few months ago for sony vegas problems with sync and wrong dimensions during import; there is nothing for Adobe, because no reported problems so far on either hauppage or adobe boards)
Did you have all Adobe updates, all HD PVR updates ?
or
Did you change something in the last week to cause these problems (like flash new firmware, do some driver update) -
I never experienced the sync and dimensions problem before i switched to Premiere but i have all the updates, even if i didnt,it wouldnt explain why Premiere suddenly decides to stop working properly.
I haven't changed anything. -
That's why I'm asking if your problems might have coincided with something you did - some driver update, windows update etc... (Maybe the Update is the cause of the issue)
If so, and you have a disc image / windows backup an earlier configuration, you can revert to that
If none of that appears to work or is feasible for you, you can try re-installing premiere , maybe something got corrupted
Nobody that I know of has reported these types of problems with PP and HDPVR (there were 100's of reports problems with vegas and HDPVR before the update)
You can also check the Adobe and Hauppauge support forums - I haven't checked there recently, maybe something new has come up -
Alright, looks like this problem isn't going to get fixed because i uninstalled CS 5.5 and went back to 5.0 because i thought a recent update might have been the problem. I have also tried moving the files to another computer with Premiere. Neither worked. I have also reinstalled the HDPVR Software.
One of the things i love about Premiere is Media Encoder which lets you queue loads of different renders to be completed while im away from the computer or whatever. Sure you can do batch rendering with Vegas but i dont like it so much. Like i said, i really dislike the software but i haven't used it since Version 9. My main issue with Vegas was that it gave me a ton of motion blurLast edited by Katsutoshi; 17th Nov 2012 at 13:05.
