  1. Hello.

I have read and read but to be honest couldn't get the best answer so I decided to ask for help.

I currently have video recorded from my TV in 720 x 576 in mpeg. I used to convert it to 720 x 400 in mp4 format for widescreen online player. But after a while I realized the video is a little dark and the quality is not as good as it should be, So my question would be what would be my best choice for converting my 720 x 576 video for wide screen player?

    Thanks in advanced.

Give more information how you convert it.

I would use handbrake or vidcoder. Convert to mp4 with h264 video and try use constant quality encoding. I would still try around 720x400 and see how it looks like.

If it it's still dark you might consider using some video filters.

  3. Just resizing it has nothing to do with it being too dark or the quality being poor. Those are other issues issues entirely. Maybe use a different program from what you used before. But since you said nothing about how you made the conversion, then who knows?

  4. Sorry if I didn't give enough information.

The movies gets recorded from the TV. The size is around 4GB in mpeg with resolution of 720 x 576. Since the file size is too big to upload, using AVS we convert it to mp4 with: bitrate: 1200, resolution 720 x 400, 16:9, frame rate: 23.976, and H264/AVC advance video codec. When I compare the source and the converted file I see a big difference in brightness. I am not looking for a HD movie, but I thing with 1200kbps bitrate I should have a Hight Quality movie.

It depends. That's actually a fairly low bit rate, even for H.264. It might be enough but there's always some chance that sources with a lot of motion might need a higher bit rate. But bit rate problems don't show up as brightness issues so you really should listen to Baldrick and try another program.
