  1. Hey everyone, I need to make a video similar to this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnb5zPAYkgY

And I need to know how this guy made the video with all the transitions, especially the transitions where the video editor uses these rectangles and has a different clip playing in each one at 0:25.

Did this video editor use just adobe premiere pro or did he use after effects as well? I'm just trying to figure out what to tackle first.

  2. Everything in that video can be done in premiere (or any non linear video editor)

It's just taking multiple instances of the sample clip and resizing them or rotating them

They have multiple tracks going, and compositing between them. I made copies of the green-bordered area, stylized them, and fed them back into the mix on different layers (tracks). In Sony Vegas, this is called "Track Motion", whereby you can "float" multiple tracks.

I think the video was edited this way to cover up the bad camera work. Sometimes the video gets fuzzy for no reason, so adding gratuitous fuzz here and there sort of makes it look intentional. But I don't think any performer WANTS to look fuzzy.

Anyway, you can wrap your mind around the concept easier if you compare to multi-track audio, overdubbing, and the "layers" in PhoShop and other graphics/photo editors. The idea is universal to all media.

I used a basic ten year old paint program, Microsoft PictureIt, to duplicate the image in the green frame. Then I colorized it to make some pop. Then I enlarged one and put it in the background. The other one, I scaled it down and put it in the front. So you have a 123 sequence going on.

I used Sony Vegas Pro, to put it all together, but the Studio versions can easily do this too. Check it out at the Sony Software site! It's cool

Vegas is a full NLE, plus audio and still photo editor, all in one.

The audio work on that video is complete shit.
It has all sorts of distortion from being too loud at some earlier point in time.

    Don't do that.
