I'm doing some speed tests with Amazon S3 and just curious to see what kind of speeds people throughout the world are getting. I've uploaded a 92MB zip file to buckets in 3 regions. If you'd like to help, please reply with your location, what type of internet connection you're using, the bucket(s) you downloaded from, and the average speed in KB/sec that the file downloaded from the bucket(s). I'm most concerned with people that are physically located far away from the bucket. So, for example, a good test would be someone in New Zealand downloading from the Ireland bucket, you get the idea....

    Ireland bucket:
    https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/irelandtestbucket/avast_free_antivirus_setup.zip

    Northern California bucket:
    https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/norcalbuck/avast_free_antivirus_setup.zip

    Sao Paulo bucket:
    https://s3-sa-east-1.amazonaws.com/saopaulobuck/avast_free_antivirus_setup.zip

    Thanks for your help!

Thanks guys, so far so good. Seems S3 speeds are pretty consistent. I was concerned that I might need to use Cloudfront which is Amazon's CDN, but 700KB/sec+ is perfectly acceptable for downloading even large files.
